My figurative work is a combination of different materials and methods. I use polymer clay which I colour with pigments and inks. The bodies are built using wire armature then covered or dressed with cloth which may also be at times painted. The bases are found objects or wooden forms I have designed and painted.

Each piece is one of a kind and is the result of the time it takes to make it sing . . . sometimes it takes a long while and other times it flows right through to its completion . . . . if you would like to see more images of a piece, or to purchase, please email me : katechurch.ns@gmail.com

LIFE Drawings into collage :

I have worked with the model since I was seventeen. Life drawing holds a very special place in my creative life. It is meditation, visual observation, connection both emotional and physical. I learn how to get out of my own way, to stop expectations, to relinquish control and to remember how to play. My favourite is when I can connect observation to an emotional line.

I work with dry pigments smeared and marked into the paper’s surface. It is my way of taking a white piece of paper and turning it into a space that holds life . . . .
